MOOG SUB PHATTY

Moog Music introduces the Sub Phatty analog synthesizer, a 25 full-size key, 31 knob production instrument that melds the soul and functionality of vintage analog synthesizers with new and unique sound design tools. Building on the tradition of Moog’s highly successful Phatty family, the Sub Phatty grinds and screams with a uniquely aggressive voice — making it the new standard for synth bass, analog percussion, and a wide range of sound design applications.

In honor of the new Moog Sub Phatty analog synthesizer’s release today, experimental multi-genre music producer, Flying Lotus, and Adult Swim veteran, Adam ‘Lilfuchs’ Fuchs collaborated on a short animation called Moog Sub Phatty: New Machine For Living. You can hear the new Sub Phatty analog synthesizer in Flying Lotus’s original score for the animation.

TAKCOM & NOSAJ THING : ECLIPSE/ BLUE

Takcom continues to push the envelope when it comes to motion work, sometimes I wonder, what kind of cereal does Takcom eat in the morning to be so good…

With support from The Creators Project, and collaborating with Perfume choreographer MIKIKO, Director Daito Manabe and Visual Artist Takcom created a dynamic virtual environment to serve as the backdrop for two dancers whose movements across the stage are amplified by the graphics behind them, making each action feel larger and more emotive.

OM UNIT | ULYSSES

In love with this tune – video from Om Unit right now. Created by Bison & Sam Coldy. The simplicity of the retro styled graphics works perfectly with the deep, cinematic track. I just wished it was a bit longer, but overall, really great job!

COM TRUISE & NITE MOVES LIVE

I was able to catch up with Com Truise as he was finishing his tour, I discovered his work less than a year ago, mainly because of his album covers, and I immediately felt a connection to his style, only to later discover his amazing music work, which I actually listen to a lot while doing design work.

Check out the video above, taken by YouTube user Orangelemonblue during the last stop of a long tour, at the Observatory in Orange County with drummer Nite Moves.

AMON TOBIN, DATSIK : BY V SQUARED LABS

Chances are that you’ve already heard of transformer-step lord, Datsik and his new Vortex show, or Ninja Tune‘s own Amon Tobin and his recently improved ISAM 2.0 show. If you’ve been to an electronic music show in the past few years you will notice that sound systems alone are not cutting it anymore, music artists are in search to give an experience to their fans, and unless you are into the motion graphics industry, you probably haven’t heard of V Squared Labs before, but chances are you’ve experienced their work more than once, if you have been to a big concert in the last 10 years. A group of visual artists led by Vello Virkhaus, are re-writing the way we experience live music by integrating stage design, light and cutting edge visuals to the music.

One of my favorite music projects right now is Illuminauts AKA Santino, David & Nicky are in my opinion best experienced live, where they perform with no laptops, building beats on the spot.
